Khasab Fort is located on the eastern side of the Wilayat of Khasab in the old part of the city. This fort was built on the remains of an ancient fortress before it was reinforced by the Portuguese. It has a history of nearly 250 years and was restored in 1990 and then again developed to its current state in the year 2007.
The current castle features an exhibition about the history of Musandam, displaying a set of traditional elements reserved till nowadays, from weddings decoration, clothes, date storages and kitchen equipment, to old documents, weapons and old Omani boats originating from the village of Kamzar in the northern part of Musandam, in addition to canons and ancien boats at the entrance of the fort. The castle illustrates many aspects of old Khasab. It is located near the port of Khasab, easily accesible offering one of the most enjoyable cultural experiences in Oman.
